Suspect Injured After Pursuit

NORTH PLATTE - A pursuit that crossed over two counties in central Nebraska left one suspect injured after police shot him. On Monday morning, the pursuit of a stolen vehicle began in Dawson County near Highway 30. Shots were fired by the Dawson County Sheriff's deputies during the initial stages of the pursuit. It continued into Gothenburg when the suspect stole another vehicle and headed west on Interstate 80, eventually stopping in Hershey. The suspect was hit when shots were fired by law enforcement and a Nebraska State Trooper. The State Trooper who fired the shots has been placed on administrative leave, in accordance with NSP policy, while the incident is being investigated. The suspect was transported to Great Plains Heath and has since been flown to a hospital in Omaha. No officers were injured during the incident.
