September Jury Trial set in death of 26-year-old Beatrice man

BEATRICE – A Gage County District Judge has scheduled a September jury trial for a Beatrice man accused of second-degree murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony.

25-year-old Brandon Long is accused in the shooting death of 26-year-old Alex Rader, last December 30th.  Rader was shot as he was standing outside Long’s residence, late in the evening. 

Long has been held on one-million dollars bond.  If convicted, he faces up to life in prison on the murder charge and up to 50 years in prison on the weapon charge.

Long entered written not guilty pleas to the charges, April 5th.   Five days have been reserved for the jury trial, scheduled to begin in Gage County District Court, September 27th.
