Sealant to be applied to several Beatrice streets

BEATRICE - Motorists in Beatrice are being urged not to park on city street sections that will soon get a special sealing treatment.

Hall Brothers. Inc., of Marysville, Kansas will apply a mastic seal on some asphalt streets, with work expected to begin August 16th and continue through August 20th.

The process involves spraying a tacky black asphalt material over the roadway surface followed by a drying period dependent on temperature, humidity, and wind conditions.

Parking will be prohibited on the routes where work is being done, between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

The Beatrice Street Department says motorists should not drive around barricaded streets.  If the sealing material is not dry, it adheres to vehicle's tires which can then spray onto painted surfaces.

The streets receiving the treatment include sections of 2nd, 7th and 9th Streets.  The material will also be applied on sections of Garfield, Grant, High, Hoyt, Jefferson, Lincoln and Washington Streets…and on part of Woods Avenue.
