Saturday named Keep Beatrice Beautiful Day

BEATRICE – Saturday has been proclaimed Keep Beatrice Beautiful Day…..Mayor Stan Wirth issuing that proclamation, Monday night.
The Beatrice environmental organization….KBB…is led by Executive Director Linda Grell, who says some scout pack members recently discovered how clean the community is after getting information from Public Properties Director Mark Pethoud on camping availability.

"A Boy Scout troop came down from Omaha and they were looking for a camping spot. Mark Pethoud referred them to Riverside Park and they were over there until the rain drew them out. They asked me if they could have a service project and so I said yes, they could pick up litter. When I went back to pick up the supplies I had taken them...they said they could not find one piece of litter in Riverside Park, so I just had to give a shout-out to Mark Pethoud in the public properties department for doing a fantastic job in our city."

Grell says the parks are kept very clean, and that leaves a good impression on the many visitors who come to the community for events such as baseball and softball tournaments.

Over twenty other Keep America Beautiful organizations in Nebraska are seeing their communities observe Saturday as a day to keep their communities clean.
