Root sentenced in federal court for methamphetamine

Acting United States Attorney Jan Sharp announced that on Monday William Root, 60, of Omaha, Nebraska had been sentenced by Senior United States District Judge Joseph F. Bataillon for possession of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Root received a 36-month sentence followed by a three-year term of supervised release. This is due to no parole in the federal system.

On July 15, 2019 the Omaha Metro Drug Test Force officers had a search warrant for a residence near 137th and L Streets. Root was present and had been in possession of 98 grams of lab-confirmed, actual methamphetamine, a digital scale, and Ziploc bags.
