Red Flag Warning in effect for Panhandle, northeast Colorado Monday

SIDNEY, NE — Weather officials are cautioning people of a critical fire danger in the Panhandle on Monday.

The entire Panhandle and Logan, Sedgwick and Phillips counties in Colorado are included in a Red Fag Warning. It is in effect until 7:00 p.m.

The National Weather Service says winds are expected to blow at 15 to 20 miles per hour with gusts up to 30 mph. Humidity will remain low at about 10 to 15 percent.

According to the Nebraska State Fire Marshal's office, there is a statewide ban on open burns.

Red Flag Warnings mean there are critical fire weather conditions due to combination of gusty winds, low humidity and high temperatures.

There could be some reprieve from the recent dry conditions this week. The National Weather Service says there is a 60-70 percent chance of rain in the Panhandle on Tuesday.
