Potter woman, 37, dies in Panhandle vehicle-train crash

A 37-year-old Potter, Nebraska, woman has died in a vehicle-train crash in the Panhandle.
The Cheyenne County Attorney's Office said the crash occurred Tuesday around 6:40 a.m. at the railroad crossing at County Road 91 near U.S. Highway 30 west of Sidney and east of Potter.
Authorities said Christina Spaulding died in the crash. The Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the crash, the county attorney's office said.
In a separate train crash, the Associated Press reported that an 86-year-old pickup truck driver was killed when a train rammed his vehicle in southeast Nebraska.
The crash occurred around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday on the east side of Auburn. Authorities said Donald Kruger of Auburn was eastbound on U.S. Highway 136 when his pickup was struck by the northbound train.
The crash remains under investigation, authorities said.
And according to the World-Herald News Service, a 46-year-old Kentucky man died Tuesday night after a crash on Interstate 80 two miles east of Sutherland. The Nebraska State Patrol said said a semitrailer truck driven by Gerald Childs, 63, of Sacramento, California, was westbound on I-80 when it crossed the median. The semi struck an eastbound pickup and rolled over.
The driver of the pickup, Steven Freeman of Nicholasville, Kentucky, was killed in the crash.
The patrol said seat belts were in use by Freeman and Childs.
Sutherland is about 30 miles west of North Platte.
