OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A former U.S. Postal Service employee in Omaha has admitted to stealing gift cards and cash from the mail.

Austin M. Thomas, 30, faces up to five years in prison after pleading guilty to mail theft, The Omaha World-Herald reported.

The investigation began in December 2019 when a city employee reported he had found several bags of mail in a trash can at a park. The mail was unprocessed but had been opened.
