Police ID man who was wounded by gunfire near 50th and Underwood in Dundee

A 40-year-old man who was wounded by gunfire Saturday night in the Dundee neighborhood drove himself to the Nebraska Medical Center, police said.

John E. Mass of Omaha is expected to survive, according to a spokesman for the Omaha Police Department. Mass told police that he was shot near 50th Street and Underwood Avenue when he was confronted by two men shortly after 11 p.m.

Mass went to a nearby business for help before driving himself to the hospital, the spokesman said. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
