Police: Fake $100 bills converted from smaller bills

GRAND ISLAND – Grand Island Police are working to find who may be responsible for passing counterfeit $100 bills at three different locations.

In two cases, the bills were real $10 bills that had been doctored to look like a 100.

Those were passed at Pumper’s Convenience Store and the Webb Road Taco Johns.

Another fake hundred was used at Pro Image in Conestoga Mall.

While factors surrounding these counterfeit bills are not yet known, Captain Jim Duering says this is similar to instances of out-of-town groups passing quickly through town.
