Police discover seven knives during property exchange

NORFOLK, Neb. -- A homeless man was discovered with seven knives after police were called to a Norfolk residence for a disturbance.

Officers were called to the 800 block of S. 11th Street after the resident said 38-year-old Andrew Strom, who had been staying at the home, was no longer welcome at the residence.

Officers were involved in the exchange of property between the resident and Strom, who was there to pick up his belongings. During the exchange, officers say, a large knife was discovered.

Additional searches revealed a total of six knives, none of which Strom was permitted to have due to previous criminal convictions.

He was arrested and jailed for possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.
