COLUMBUS, Neb. -- A Columbus doctor can add a new title to his name.
Dr. Brandon Borer, a podiatrist at Columbus Orthopedic & Sports Medicine, recently became a certified wound specialist through the American Board of Wound Management.
In addition to working at Columbus Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Clinic, Borer also treats patients at the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Health Center at Columbus Community Hospital. For the certification, Borer had to prove specific knowledge and proficiency in the practice of wound management.
Physicians must have three or more years of clinical wound care experience, submit three letters of professional recommendation that attest to the quality of their work and pass an exam to earn the certification.
“Dr. Borer has demonstrated significant expertise in complex wound management in his podiatric practice,” said Dr. Dustin Volkmer, CCH’s orthopedic medical director. “This certification shows his continued commitment to providing the most comprehensive and effective care for these difficult issues. Patients in Columbus and surrounding communities can be confident they are receiving the best possible care for any foot and ankle wound issues when they come to visit Dr. Borer.”
