Pedalers Corner holds grand opening

SIDNEY, NE — A new business in Sidney opens just in time for Spring.

Pedalers Corner in Sidney held its grand opening on Friday. For owner Doug Loughry, it’s been a long time coming.

“This has been a long journey,” he said. “It’s been approximately six years total. The last two-and-a-half years has been building construction, planning, putting together the business plan, contacting the people we need to contact, having a lot of frustrations, but we finally got over that hurdle and we’re here.”

Pedalers Corner offers both sales and service on bicycles of all kinds. They also offer a variety of products to help people maintain their rides. Loughry says he is proud to provide a service that has been lacking in the area.

“I know the bicycle community out there in Sidney and the surrounding areas exists,” Loughry said. “We just had to go out and find them. We need to be a big proponent of bicycle trails and bicycle activism.”

Years of hard work culminated with the ribbon cutting of Loughry’s new business on his 63rd birthday.

“It’s my end dream,” Loughry said. “I’ve worked for somebody else my whole life and now I get to be my own boss. My wife is my life partner and it makes it that much better.”

People can find the new business in the heart of downtown Sidney at the corner of 9th and Illinois Streets.
