PENDER, Neb. – One person was hospitalized after a crash involving two trucks in northeast Nebraska this week.
According to the Cuming County Sheriff’s Office, an International straight truck traveling north on Highway 9 slowed to make a turn onto Highway 51 on Monday. Authorities say as the truck attempted to make its turn, a Peterbilt gravel truck also traveling northbound on Highway 9 entered the southbound lane and struck the front left quarter panel of the straight truck.
After the collision, the gravel truck then continued to travel north on Highway 9 for a short distance before entering a ditch and rolling into a cornfield.
The driver of the gravel truck was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Franciscan Healthcare in West Point.
The Cuming County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
