One person dead after overnight apartment shooting; 23-year-old suspect arrested

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha Police Department made an arrest after the overnight shooting death of a man in a northwest Omaha apartment complex.

In a morning press release, police said that the shooting occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Friday, when officers were called in for a report of a shooting at Tudor Heights Apartments, west of Interstate 680 and north of Maple Street.

Arriving officers found Jose Valenzuela, 40, dead inside one of the apartments. 

Officers arrested a 23-year-old suspect without incident on Friday. Julian Lopez was booked into Douglas County Correction for second-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
