One hospitalized after stabbing at Grand Island car dealership

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — A stabbing in Grand Island left one man hospitalized and one in police custody on Monday.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. at Auto Central while witnesses said the group appeared to be shopping for a used car.

Auto Central’s owner said a salesman thought the group was acting suspiciously.

The owner says while the salesman dealt with other customers, the group started fighting among themselves.

The suspect was identified as 24-year old Thomas Franks of Grand Island. Police said Franks was found hiding in a friend’s basement.

The victim was eventually transferred to CHI Health Saint Francis. A hospital representative said he was in “serious condition” Monday night.

No one at Auto Central was hurt.
