One dead after two-vehicle crash in Merrick County

CENTRAL CITY, Neb. -- A two-vehicle crash in Merrick County left one man dead and one hospitalized Monday afternoon.

The Merrick County Sheriff’s Office was sent to the scene on Highway 30 just northeast of the town of Clarks.

Police say an eastbound pickup crossed the center line, hitting an SUV.

53-year-old Shane Samuelson, of Chapman, was driving the pickup. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV was brought to the Merrick Medical Center and is expected to survive.
