BEATRICE – An Omaha golfer who was the top local qualifier for the U.S. Open at Beatrice Country Club, gets to play in the U.S. Open this week.
Carson Schaake, a former University of Iowa golfer, made it through sectional qualifying and will tee off on the big stage, Thursday…..at Torrey Pines South Golf Course in California.
Schaake tees off at 2:42 Pacific Time…4:42 p.m. Central…..playing alongside Rick Lamb and Michael Johnson.
Schaake fired an eight-under-par 64 at Beatrice Country Club, when the local qualifier was held last month. He then shot nine-under-par, leading seven golfers who locked down tournament spots at a sectional qualifier in Springfield, Ohio.
