Oldest living American is now a Nebraskan

OMAHA, Neb. — The country’s oldest living American is now from Nebraska.

Hester Ford, a 115-year-old North Carolina woman, died peacefully on Saturday.

With Ford’s passing, the Gerontology Research Group lists Thelma Sutcliffe of Omaha, born in 1906, as the oldest living American.

At the time of her 110th birthday in 2016, Sutcliffe lived in a residential apartment in Omaha.

At that time, she reportedly exercised every morning, did her own laundry and played bridge several times a week.

In 2017, Sutcliffe moved into an assisted living facility in Omaha.

She celebrated her 114th birthday in October of 2020.
