Officials Report First COVID-19 Related Death In Nebraska

DOUGLAS COUNTY – The Douglas County Health Department has reported the first death associated with COVID-19 in the state.

Officials say Friday that a man in his 50s who also suffered from serious underlying health conditions has become the first COVID-19 death in Douglas County.

They say he had contact with a known COVID-19 case out of state and has been self-quarantined since March 11th at home.

The DCHD is asking the public to increase its awareness of self-monitoring for symptoms of COVID-19, which include a fever, cough, sore throat, or difficulty breathing.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms, or develop symptoms, contact your health care provider.
