NORFOLK -- The Nebraska Public Power District had a busy morning, Thursday, responding to outages. More than 2,000 customers were reported to have lost power during the severe weather. Distribution Superintendent Michael McLaughlin explained that during a storm, they focus more on preparations.
"We don't want to put our linemen in danger," he said. So they make sure the trucks are fueled up and stocked for when the storm ends. He hopes this will continue to be a fast process since the NPPD just added tablets in the trucks to make dispatch quick.
Should you should see a possible damaged power line, he asks you call 1 - 877 - ask- NPPD to make a report. Wires could snap and cause fires in houses, so call 911 if there is an immediate threat.
