NPPD heading to Louisiana to assist recovery efforts

Bringing back the power.

Crews with the Nebraska Public Power District are heading to Louisiana to assist in the recovery efforts.

The region is still dealing with the remnants of Hurricane Ida.

More than one million customers are without electricity.

A 16-man contingent of line technicians and supervisory staff from NPPD will be hitting the road 12 p.m. Tuesday, journeying to the state capital of Baton Rouge to provide mutual aid and restore power.

They say they're committed to spending weeks in the state to get service back to hundreds of thousands of people.
