NPD arrests two Columbus residents after alleged dispute, drug discovery

NORFOLK, Neb. -- A Thursday morning Norfolk traffic stop led to the arrest of two people from Columbus.

A Norfolk Police officer pulled over a car for speeding on S. 13th Street at 2:19 a.m. The officer stated that the 20-year-old driver was confrontational during the stop.

The driver reportedly had an electronic vaping device his lap, which the officer said he could not legally have due to his age. The driver then allegedly threw the vaping device at the officer.

A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of Adderall pills, for which neither the driver nor the passenger had a prescription.

Officers questioned both as to who was the owner of the bag of pills, as well as who had knowledge of the pills. At the conclusion of the investigation, both the driver and passenger were arrested for possession of a controlled substance. They were both housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail
