North Platte man arrested in connection with burglary asked for jump start

A 20-year-old North Platte man who was taken into custody in connection with a burglary called authorities for help starting his getaway vehicle.
The man called deputies about 4:25 a.m. Tuesday, asking for assistance with a jump start, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said. The man told deputies that he was cold and needed immediate help. He indicated he was near the north end of Lake Maloney State Recreation Area, which is about 5 miles south of North Platte.
Deputies also received a call from a resident near the same location, saying her home had been burglarized. The woman said a man who had entered her bedroom startled her while she had been sleeping. She said the man then fled from her home. Deputies said the man had several of the woman’s items. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary. Deputies also towed the man’s car, which is being held pending conclusion of the case.
