North Platte businesses win awards from Nebraska Main Street Network

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – Businesses across the state are recognized for their efforts to improve their downtown area, including North Platte.

Nebraska Main Street Network presented the awards Monday evening. The awards are based off the city’s projects to enhance and revitalize the Canteen District.

The Volunteer of the Year was given to the Downtown Association, Double Dips won the Interior Improvement Commercial Award and the Cedar Room won the Business of the Year Award.

“I love it, it’s a huge improvement, it’s beautiful,” said Elizabeth Chase, NE Main Street Executive Director. “This is the type of improvements that we like to see in our downtowns, very high quality, very classy, very attractive, and very complimentary to the architecture of the building.”

“We had always kind of had it in the back of our head that we wanted to do a upper scale restaurant and a cocktail lounge,” said The Cedar Room. “Believe it or not, 95% of the public told us they wanted a upper scale restaurant, a nice steak house and a nice cocktail lounge you could go in and get drinks actually made by a mixologist that use the fresh fruit and fresh vegetables. We’ve had customers from all over the United States and they tell us, “we don’t feel we’re in North Platte, Nebraska.”

A total of 16 business and organizations received awards or honorable mentions.
