Norfolk man arrested for domestic assault, false imprisonment

NORFOLK, Neb. – A 31-year-old Norfolk man is in custody facing domestic assault and false imprisonment charges after a Saturday afternoon incident.

At 2:33 p.m., Norfolk Police were called to an apartment in the 600 block of Cedar Avenue for a disturbance. The third-party reporter had recorded a female that had been screaming from inside the apartment.

Officers said they could hear people inside the apartment but no one would come to the door. They then attempted entry into the apartment only to find that the door had been barricaded with a sheet of plywood, according to NPD reports.

Officers forced their way into the apartment and found an adult female and a male identified as Gabriel Rodriguez, 31, of Norfolk.

The female reported that she had been assaulted by Rodriguez and he also prevented her from leaving. NPD reports indicated that she had injuries consistent with her statements.

Rodriquez was questioned about the incident and then arrested for third-degree domestic assault and second-degree false imprisonment. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
