Newly picked city manager withdraws after contract negotiations fail

It’s not necessarily back to square one, but Chadron is again looking for a new city manager. The city council offered the position earlier this month to Scott Meszaros of Seward, Alaska, but he’s now withdrawn.

In a news release issued Friday afternoon, the city says its City Manager Negotiation Committee met with Meszaros via Zoom on Wed, but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement and Mesaros “no longer wishes to be considered.”

The council is meeting in special session Monday afternoon at 4:00 in City Hall to review the situation and the city’s options including offering the city manager job to one of the other 2 finalists or starting the search over with a new pool of applicants.
