NELIGH -- Flooding in 2019 and COVID-19 in 2020 halted growth in northeast Nebraska. But now the Neligh Community Fund is working to get back on track.
Chairman Al Stelling said the organization is trying to raise $300,000 for their biggest industry in town, Blackburn Manufacturing, for more signs in town. The organization is also hoping to help the Ag Society create a building at the fairgrounds for community activities.
"There's no reason we can't do projects, it's just a matter of fundraising," Stelling said.
The fund was started in 2019 amid challenges, though it has been able to complete some efforts recently -- namely, signage on Highway 275 and covers for their ballpark field stands.
