Nebraska teens arrested after pursuit in northeast Colorado

MORGAN COUNTY, CO — A pair of teens from Nebraska are in custody after police say they stole multiple vehicles and led authorities on a chase in Colorado.

Police say it happened late Monday morning. According to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, police received a report a Jeep had been stolen from Sedgwick County and was westbound on Interstate 76.

The Morgan County Sheriff and Brush PD set up along the interstate and spotted the vehicle. The person driving the Jeep did not stop a pursuit ensued.

Police say speeds reached 110 miles per hour during the chase. The suspects eventually exited the interstate and headed north and Highway 52.

After leading authorities on a chase on county roads and through fields, the Jeep eventually came to a stop and the suspects got out and ran on foot.

Police set up a perimeter and found a 15 and 16-year-old. Authorities say both were runaways from Nebraska. After taking the two into custody, police learned they had stolen a family member's car in Nebraska and taken it to Sedgwick County before stealing the Jeep.

The Morgan County Sheriff's Office says there will be charges for the vehicle theft, pursuit and damage to fields.
