U.S. Senator Deb Fischer
LINCOLN - Nebraska drivers could be getting an easier route around Lincoln thanks to a recent grant. U.S. Senator Deb Fischer announced today that Nebraska will receive $25 million for the construction of the new Lincoln South Beltway. The Lincoln South Beltway Project will create an east-west travel route south of Lincoln and hopes to increase safety and mobility by diverting freight trucks from the local transportation network. Senator Deb Fischer says, “The Lincoln South Beltway project will have an incredibly positive impact on our families and communities for years to come. With this new grant, the state of Nebraska will be able to build a brand new expressway, which will alleviate traffic and increase safety for Nebraskans, especially those in the Lincoln area.” The construction of the new expressway could take up to seven years to complete and is planned to start in the spring of 2020.
