Miss Omaha is the new Miss Nebraska; Miss Scottsbluff earns teen award

Miss Omaha Morgan Holen is the new Miss Nebraska.

The 24-year old UNL graduate who was crowned Saturday night is the first second-generation Miss Nebraska, following her mother Jodi Miller Holen in 1988.

She receives $22,850 in cash awards plus college scholarships as she moves on to compete in the 100th anniversary Miss America Competition this December.

This isn’t Holen’s first crown in the Miss Nebraska system. She was the 2014 Miss Nebraska’s Outstanding Teen

This year’s Outstanding Teen was also crowned Saturday in North Platte, Miss Scotts Bluff County Jamie Rose Chen.

She receives a $2,000 cash scholarship as well as funds to represent Nebraska at the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen competition this summer in Orlando, Florida.

Chen was attending Scottsbluff High School before the coronavirus pandemic, but then moved to an online program through Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, one of the oldest secondary schools in the United States.
