Midwest Area Refuse Solutions announces recycling change

BEATRICE – Because of a surge in curbside recycling accounts over the past few weeks, the entity that operates the city-owned garbage service in Beatrice is expanding its curbside collection.

Midwest Area Refuse Solutions is announcing that curbside recycling will be collected on the same day as a customer’s garbage collection, starting the week of May 3rd.

Because of recycling staff being needed to collect curbside recycling five days a week, household recycling collection sites will be in place at the Standing Bear Trailhead parking lot and the Beatrice Skate Park lot, only.

MARS officials say the recycling collection trailers will be emptied daily. If it is missing when you arrive there, it is being emptied and will return shortly.

A recycling facility at 11th and Caldwell will operate as a collection facility for commercial and municipal hauling only.  Officials say they are searching for additional collection sites or other recycling options.
