Manhole covers flew during rare Omaha storm; City awaits federal aid

That’s the estimated number of manhole covers that blew off in and around downtown Omaha as an unofficial five inches of rain fell in less than an hour.

Clean-up from Saturday night's record flash flood continues as businesses dry out and city streets wait for repairs.

At the same time the city expects the damage will qualify Omaha for federal disaster aid.
