CROFTON, Neb. -- Triathlon events have wrapped up for the Olympics, but they were well underway this weekend in northeast Nebraska.
Crofton's Annual Dam Race Triathlon was held on Saturday.
Instead of swimming to open the race, athletes went kayaking before a 5K run and 12-mile bike ride.
Competitors had the option of participating as an individual doing all three legs of the race, or as a team of two or three.
"We are representing about 10 states now, from all over the United States," said Heidi Marsh, race director. "It's really made a big splash around here."
A celebration and meal was served at the Haymarket and Pulley Museum.
All proceeds from the event benefit recreation projects in and around Crofton.
