LPD: Man kicks and punches officer, nurse, soda fountain

LINCOLN, Neb. – A 52-year-old man was arrested for allegedly punching and kicking a police officer, a nurse and a soda fountain on Saturday.

Officers were called to DeLeon’s on 27th Street in Lincoln Saturday night for a reported disturbance. Employees said 52-year-old Richard Olson appeared intoxicated and was yelling at people in the restaurant. They said he then punched a soda fountain, causing approximately $1,000 in damage.

As officers were taking Olson into custody, he reportedly kicked an officer in the stomach and legs. Before being taken to jail, Olson was transported to a local hospital, where he allegedly yelled at medical staff and kicked a nurse in the shoulder.

Once medically cleared, Olson was taken to jail and arrested for assault on a police officer, assault on a health care provider and criminal mischief.
