Louisville man sentenced for shooting son

PLATTSMOUTH – Clarence Moxey, 54, of Louisville was sentenced to 10 to 15 years in prison for assault and child abuse in July of 2020.

Moxey was arrested after a Cass County sheriff’s deputy went to his house to investigate a family disturbance on July 20. The deputy left the residence at 11:20 a.m. and was dispatched 10 minutes later to check on a report of a shooting.

Prosecutors say Moxey shot his son in the abdomen and buttocks with a small-caliber handgun. The 16-year-old was flown to a hospital by medical helicopter.

The convictions carried a maximum penalty of 50 years in prison.
