HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Authorities are searching for an escaped inmate from the Adams County Jail.
Jordan Latta escaped from the jail around 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Hastings. He was being transferred from one holding area to another when he got away.
Adams County Deputy Kevin Mauck said two jailers were taking Latta from a basement holding area in the county courthouse to the main holding cells on the third floor. They were using a public elevator because the secured elevator normally used for inmate transfers is out of service. Authorities said Latta bolted out of the jailers' custody and ran down a public hallway and out of the building.
Deputy Mauck said Latta was arrested for stealing a car from a local dealership.
Latta is a 27-year-old white male. He is six feet tall, weighing 180 lbs. He has a thin build and green eyes. His hair is red with reddish-blonde facial hair.
If you have seen Jordan Latta, or know of his whereabouts, please call the Adams County Sheriff's Department at (402) 461-7181 or dial 911.
