Honoring heroes in Nebraska

NORFOLK, Neb. — It’s a day to honor all of those who fought to keep this country safe on this special Memorial Day.

Many of northeast Nebraska’s surviving veterans gathered at the Norfolk Veterans Center to celebrate and show all the appreciation they truly have for those who have died in the line of duty serving the United States.

Tons of public members around the community came out to show their respect and value to the country’s military and what they’ve sacrificed in the name of the United States.

Once the program got underway, it was a flag salute and the Pledge of Allegiance that got things started.

Then the highlight of the program was the official speaker to give advice, honor, and a reminder of how important the day. Wally Muhs, who is an 89-year-old navy veteran, offered excellent and gratitude on the special day.

It was both a day of celebration and a memorial for all the veterans that have given their lives to keep Americans free on this Memorial Day.
