Highway maintenance, rail crossing repairs scheduled

BEATRICE — There's no shortage of highway maintenance work going on in southeast Nebraska. A chip seal project is starting Wednesday on U.S. Highway 136, west of Beatrice, over about a ten-mile stretch.

The work is expected to take about four days. Traffic will be maintained with one-lane restriction and a pilot car and flaggers.

State maintenance forces will be also be performing chip sealing west of Odell on Nebraska Highway 112...getting underway next Tuesday. That work is expected to take one day. Traffic will be maintained with lane restrictions and a pilot car and flaggers.

A railroad crossing repair project will begin this Thursday, on Nebraska Highway 8 at the village of Salem, with Burlington Northern-Santa Fe crew members doing that work over two days. Traffic will be maintained with a marked detour.
