Health district asking counties for tithe from ARPA funds

FALLS CITY – The Southeast District Health Department is requesting a portion of American Rescue Plan Act funds allocated to counties in the district.

District Director Grant Brueggemann met with Richardson County commissioners Tuesday and said he will ask each of the five counties for 10 percent of their ARPA funds.

Richardson County has received half of its allotment totaling $763,842 and would use $152,000 for the health district under the proposal.

Preliminary county board minutes say the health district would use the funds to make improvements to its current facilities.

Commissioners agreed to reconsider the request when there are more definitive guidelines from the federal government regarding use of ARPA funds.
