Great Plains Communications Acquired By Grain Management

BLAIR - The largest privately-owned telecommunications provider in Nebraska has been acquired by a leading private equity firm. On June 19th, Grain Management announced that it had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Great Plains Communications in Blair, Nebraska. Great Plains offers residential services, such as digital phone, high-definition cable television, and broadband internet through a variety of mediums, including DSL, cable modem, satellite, and fire. Great Plains serves more than 90 communities across Nebraska, as well as providing services to many businesses as well. "Grain Management, their expertise is solely in communications-related businesses," said Todd Foje, CEO of Great Plains Communications. "What they bring to use is expertise, and resources in areas that we don't have. They also plan to invest additional capital in the business, so we're going to have additional resources to grow the business." Once the acquisition is officially complete, Great Plains will operate over 9,500 route miles of high-quality network architecture. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2018, after the satisfaction of customary regulatory approvals.
