Grand Island Public Schools offers 2021-22 free meal plan to all students

Grand Island Public Schools will provide free meals to all students for the 2021-22 school year. Completing a free and reduced meal application is not required and all students will continue to receive free meals for the 2021-22 school year no matter the outcome of the confirmation of benefits of households' 2021-22 meal application.

However, there are still benefits students may be eligible for by completing a meal application and the sharing information form.

If confirmed that a student is eligible to receive free or reduced-price meals based on USDA income requirements, the meal benefits may carry over up to 30 school days into the 2022-23.

Households may be eligible for Pandemic-EBT SNAP benefits through the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

Students that are approved for free meals with an application can receive free band instruments, free scholarship applications, GISH Health Center benefits and other free services.

Although meals are free, extras such as second entrees, a la carte items and extra milks and/or milk to go with a lunch brought from home are not free.

Meal applications can be found by visiting for online applications, or in-person at the Kneale Administration Building at 123 S Webb Rd.
