LINCOLN - Nebraska is the best Turkey Hunting Destination in the United States according to Gov. Pete Ricketts. In a recent survey of Nebraska turkey hunters, 90 percent of respondents say they've had a good turkey hunting experience. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission says some factors that contribute to these results is Nebraska's abundant turkey population, long hunting seasons and almost one million acres of public hunting land. Monday the governor signed the proclamation at the State Capitol and presented it to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission Deputy Director Tim McCoy, who was joined by Jared McJunkin and Micaela Rahe of the National Wild Turkey Federation. "Nebraska welcomes hunters from across the nations to our beautiful state, creating an $848 million annual economic impact in Nebraska, fueling the economy of towns large and small and supporting nearly 9,000 jobs," Gov. Ricketts said.
