GRAND ISLAND, Neb.-- A central Nebraska woman is facing charges after reportedly stealing a police car.
Grand Island Police say an officer stopped Ruben Avila near 4th and Greenwich streets for outstanding warrants Monday night.
Police say he later fled on foot.
While chasing Avila, authorities say 21-year-old Chenoa Lemburg got into the police cruiser and took off.
GIPD says the cruiser was later found unoccupied a short distance away.
She was arrested shortly after fleeing and is facing charges of theft and traffic violations.
The cruiser was not damaged in the incident.
