Gering quad field sporting complex gets its name

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) – The new sporting complex in Gering finally got its name, with “Dome Rock Diamonds” winning the majority of residents’ votes, the City of Gering announced Thursday.

Gering residents voted on the name for the city’s quad field sporting complex in a survey developed by Twin Cities Development. The City says the next step is to create a logo and install signage, which is expected to happen at some point during the summer.

On behalf of the City of Gering, State Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services Director Amy Seiler thanked residents for their participation in choosing the name.

“These are the community’s fields and we are pleased that many showed interest in selecting a name they would be proud of,” Seiler said.

The first event at the fields will be the Oregon Trail Invitational Softball Tournament on May 21st through 23rd, with 23 teams from three states competing, the City said.

Diamonds will also be one of the locations for the 23 Club Father’s Day Tournament in June and the Gering High School softball team’s home field.
