Future of ag industry takes center stage in Madison

MADISON - Business and ag leaders are putting a spotlight on the future of farming in Nebraska.

The 6th annual Northeast Nebraska Ag Banquet was held Thursday evening in Madison, returning after taking a year off due to the pandemic.

The banquet featured Nebraska Cooperative Council President Rocky Weber as the featured speaker. Weber spoke about how the farming and ranching industries are evolving, centered more on sustainability and equity than ever before.

The ag committee also recognized Manzer Equipment of Osmond for its efforts in supporting northeast Nebraska agriculture and awarded the Zimmerman family of Pierce as Ag Family of the Year for their efforts to adopt technology and sustainable farming practices.

The banquet serves as a fundraiser for scholarships for northeast Nebraska ag students.
