Former Dodge County deputy set for sentencing in fraud case found dead

FREMONT, Neb. -- A former Dodge County Sheriff's deputy who pleaded guilty extracting almost $11 million in a Ponzi scheme is dead.

Craig Harbaugh was found dead in his northwest Fremont apartment Thursday afternoon.

Authorities say there is no indication of suicide or foul play.

The Fremont Police Department is investigating the death.

Harbaugh was set to be sentenced after pleading guilty to wire and bank fraud for a total of $6 million.

Authorities say he used fake documents to convince investors and banks to make it look like he had contracts to sell weapons from his business.
