BEATRICE – A two-vehicle collision on a fogbound southeast Nebraska highway closed the road, Tuesday morning.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Officers, Plymouth Fire and Rescue and Beatrice Fire and Rescue were sent to the scene on Nebraska Highway 103, next to Tri County Schools at around 7:35 a.m.
Dense fog was limiting visibility to an eighth-of-a-mile near the collision.
Two vehicles appeared to be involved……a pickup and a four-door sedan. The car ended up in the east ditch off the highway, while the truck remained on the highway.
The identities of those involved are not yet known.
A medical helicopter was sent to the scene but could not land because of the dense fog. The helicopter was waived off as it flew over DeWitt, according to Southeast Communications emergency radio traffic.
Nebraska Highway 103 remained closed in the area of its intersection with 725 Road, as of 9 a.m. The accident occurred on the Gage-Jefferson County line.
