Fire contained after scheduled burn creates county-wide smoke

PIERCE, Neb. — In northeast Nebraska, a scheduled burn got slightly out of hand this weekend, but it didn’t last long.

Blowing smoke could be seen for miles in Pierce County.

Assistant Fire Chief Dave Lienemann tells News Channel Nebraska the fire was contained within 20 minutes.

He called the scene “great practice” for the fire squad, including Osmond’s fire crew.

Officials say no crops or people were hurt.
