Father charged with felony for ‘slamming’ teen to the ground

NEBRASKA CITY – A Nebraska City man faces felony child abuse charges after an altercation Thursday that police say went beyond parental discipline.

An arrest affidavit says police were dispatched to 1119 Third Corso for a large fight in the front yard and say they arrived to see 51-year-old Scott Brodersen, a group of teenage girls and others.

Police say they observed Brodersen charge a 36-year-old man, but the man told police he was not assaulted.

The affidavit says Brodersen’s teenage daughter was attempting to leave the premise without permission. The affidavit says by “slamming a juvenile to the ground during the altercation,” Brodersen intentionally caused physical injury.

A $35,000 bond was set for Brodersen.
